I am glad you posted this. I have been making a lot of simple peyote bracelets – I am doing a craft show Thanksgiving weekend. I was thinking it was a cop out and I should be doing more elaborate things – but your reasoning makes sense. I think my plan from now on will be to have a major project in the works but do some simpler things too. To be honest I enjoy the simpler things and even doing some stringing or wire work. Great post!

Hi Chris, I think of your beading as intricate and not simple, it has a lot of artistry. Some of the pieces I see in bead magazines look like bead throw up. (Are you laughing?) Many pieces look like a triumph of technique over artistry and a beading friend of mine agrees. So it is not just where would you wear them it is more like why would you wear them. Keep up your great work!

I am glad you are enjoying your earrings so much!! I really need to make some more LOL I think I will next week, set aside one day for more for my show. I have a new style…maybe take pics later

It still baffles me why people buy junk in stores…mass produced. Small biz rules!!!!

Its great that you posted this. I have always admired your skill and the fantastic pieces you create. But the first time I saw your work was when I stumbled on your blog and you posted the quill earrings you had made for a friend you met on MS (that I later found was Rob). I thought they were great. Now that I own a pair, thank you again very much, I am proud to own a pair and show off the quality of your work. I have received MANY compliments with a reluctant reply that, No, I did not make them, but my friend in Maine did. Aren’t they great! I direct them to your site. I saw a pair of this style earrings in a local department store, Kohls, and I thought what crap and people are paying THIS much for this Crap. They ought to see what I got from you.

I am glad that you stay true to yourself, and bead what you like when you want to and create that elaborate piece when the mood hits. The key to beady happiness for sure!

Hi Lauren..I am contemplating a week long set up in Falmouth at the old Rite Aid in the Shopping Plaza. I am also trying to get space at Monument Sq at the Public Market House and I am trying to decide if one would be better than another, and if I can afford to do both of them. I have my space approved in Portland, just impatiently waiting to find out if they accept the days I want or not…..I haven’t heard back (I HATE THAT!) I emailed and said what days I wanted and how do I pay and gave them my phone number…and nothing…. (grrr)
